Hang tags, Peelies, and free soda!

I donate all my coupon finds to a local charity, House of Hope. So when I am doing a regular shop, I'm always on the look out for hang tags. Hang tags are coupons hanging of the product. Coupons that stick to the product are called peelies. My most recent trip to Publix, I found a peelie on an item I was going to buy any way. The coupon was for a free 2 liter bottle of soda when you buy 3 bags of snyders of hanover pretzels. Bought the pretzels that I needed any ways, and got a free 2 liter of soda! Brought the soda to House of Hope the next day. So always be on the lookout for free products when you buy _______. They make great donation items!

Shelf clearing and how to solve it

Shelf clearers are people who come in to a store and take every item on the shelf, especially if it is free. To prevent shelves already being cleared when you get there, go the first day the ad comes out, stores do stock up on sale items but you never know.
If for some reason the product you want has already been sold, go to the costumer service desk and ask for a rain check. Rain checks are a great way to get the item you want at the price you want, even if they all have been sold! Check with your store to see if they offer rain checks.
If you are planning on getting a lot of one product, you know like 20 or up, consider special ordering that product to ensure you get all you want. That also helps other couponers get what they need too!
The biggest factor in shelf clearing is not to be one your self! When planning big couponing trips always make a special order!

Ahh, the checkout lane. I don’t know about you but the checkout lane is always nerve wracking. What if a coupon beeps? What if the cashier misses a coupon? Follow these tips for an easy check out every time.
  • Check expiration dates on all your coupons before you go
  • Make sure that you follow all the requirements on the coupon
  • If a coupon doesn’t work just leave the items at the counter. Don’t ever feel obligated to purchase something if the coupons don’t go through
  • Before you go to the store make a list with all the items you are buying and note how many coupons you are using. When you hand over the coupons to the cashier, you’ll know how many coupons you are using so you can keep track.
  • If you group the same items together on the checkout counter, and place the coupons for those items next to them the cashier can easily make sure that the coupon and product correspond

How to get the most out of your Coupons!

-You can stack a manufacturers coupon AND a store coupon
-If you have a Buy One Get One Free coupon, you can use it with a Buy One Get One Free sale and get both items for free!
-If a coupon says limit one per purchase, that means you can only use one coupon per item purchased. If you have 5 $1/1, and if you buy 5 items you can use all 5 coupons.
-Combine sales with coupons to take your savings even further!

Always check your stores coupon policy before going. It's also nice to bring a printout of the policy with you shopping to show cashiers who don't know.

Feel free to comment if you have any questions!

Publix Weekly ads

Publix Weekly ads start on Thursdays and end on Wednesdays. You can view their ads online at Publix.com
On a normal ad, they will have any where from 30-50 BOGOF! (buy one get one free)
I love BOGOF’s because you can stack a manufacture’s coupon with a store coupon! And yes, you can use a coupon on the free item as well!

Let me show you what I mean:
Kellogg’s cereal is buy one get one free, regular price $5.00
use 1 $1.00/2 manufacture coupon
use 2 $0.50/1 store coupons
Each box will be $1.50!
(This scenario is an example only,
don’t expect to be able to do this)
Also publix excepts competitor coupons! Check your store to see which ones they except. Competitors coupons are considered store coupons and can be stacked with manufactures coupons.
In addition to their BOGOF’s, they have hundreds of specially marked items each week!
Publix is definitely a high priced store. But if you can stack their sales with coupons, you can get the cheapest prices around!

The pros and con of Sunday newspapers

Sunday newspapers are a good source for coupons. Each paper contains only one copy of each coupon. So if you wanted more you would have to buy multiply copies. You could also buy multiplys of one coupon fom clipping services. If you are planning on getting a paper every sunday, consider subscribing to the sunday paper. The cons of Sunday papers is not knowing what coupons are in them. You want to make sure that each paper contains enough coupons you will actually use to pay for the price of the paper. Sundaycouponpreview.com helps that problem, but they are not always correct. Coupon inserts vary by reign. Before purchasing you Sunday paper, check to make sure that their are inserts in them. People now a days steal coupon inserts. Stealing coupons is illegal! Please don't steal inserts from papers or pay for only one paper and take the rest. Happy savings!

How to Coupon for Charity

Welcome to Couponing for Charity 101! Here I will show you how to get groceries for 50-90% off!

First you are going to want to set up a system to organize your coupons. Here is how:

1. Print out the coupons you want online. coupons.com smartsouce.com and coupons.target.com are popular places. Manufacturers websites sometimes have coupons as well. Then put the whole sheet of coupons into you coupon folder until it is time to use them.

2. Now when you are ready to use a coupon, all of them are in one spot. Clip the ones you wish to use and put them in a plastic zippy. When you are at the check out lane all you have to do is pull out the stack of coupons and hand to the cashier! This method eliminates cutting all of the coupons at one time.

Now you probably want to get coupons! Here is how:
Online coupon databases are
http://smartsource.com/smartsource/index.jsp?Link=MKRU3JAAR6CCY
http://www.coupons.com/
http://coupons.target.com/

Sunday newspapers have an abundance of coupons as well!

Now you are organized and have coupons! Here is how to get the most out of coupons:
-You can stack a manufacturers coupon and a store coupon
-If a coupon says limit one coupon per purchase, that means only one coupon per item purchased. If you have ten $1 off one item, and you buy ten items you can do that all in one transaction.
-If an item is on sale, use a manufacturers coupon and/or a store coupon for the most savings!
-You can use a BOGOF(buy one get one free) coupon with a BOGOF sale and get both items for free!

With the items I purchase I donate them to my church's food pantry. If you are planning on donating make sure the items you are giving are non-perishable!
